Analytical Expertise, Technical Know-How
... and People Skills
Whether it’s a small niche project or a large, company-wide initiative: the steps toward a successful solution are fundamentally the same. It’s about…
- understanding the underlying problem,
- identifying the actual needs and requirements for a solution, in order to
- find, develop, or implement the right solution.
Especially in IT projects, it’s easy to forget that technology isn’t an end in itself – it’s used by people, and it’s meant to help them. That’s why – especially in the second step – it matters to me to keep people at the center.
Because a solution that isn’t accepted by the user isn’t a solution.
Beyond analytical expertise and technical know-how, this requires, above all, people skills – communication, empathy, and the ability to navigate and reconcile competing interests. And that applies regardless whether I’m supporting a project as an external consultant, coordinating one as a project manager, or developing a specific solution as a data scientist.
