As a trained technical mathematician specializing in mathematical modeling and simulation, Štefan Emrich possesses a strong analytical mind. While working on his dissertation at ETH Zurich and TU Wien, he expanded his mathematical and statistical expertise to include skills in data visualization and project management.

He has managed numerous data, simulation, and communication projects for dwh GmbH and drahtwarenhandlung OG - ranging from the small-scale projects (see projects) to the widely publicized simulations of the COVID-19 pandemic, which were used to advise the Austrian federal government and hospital networks during the crisis.

He further honed his project management and leadership skills at ÖBB (Austrian Railways). There, he served as product owner for three years, responsible for integrating the future, group-wide resource planning software with the highly fragmented data ecosystem of ÖBB’s subsidiaries.

This range - from small projects to large corporations - is no coincidence, but rather a deliberate approach: Štefan Emrich applies the same level of care to a small project as he does to one with a budget in the millions. Only, he does so without the overhead of a large consulting firm.

Throughout his career, Štefan Emrich has worked for small companies, large corporations, and national and international NGOs, developing solutions for a wide range of disciplines - including facility management, space utilization, humanitarian aid, healthcare, epidemiology, and transportation and logistics. His extensive network and comprehensive toolkit are the result of this experience.

This enables him, on the one hand, to identify the right tools for each problem - because if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. On the other hand, he brings in experts from his network as needed, such as when the project’s size, complexity, or specific requirements call for it.

Private life

In his free time, Štefan enjoys sailing and is an active member (SCBA wearer) of the Großwarasdorf Volunteer Fire Department. Another passion of his is freediving, which he also teaches as a freediving instructor. In the winter, he plays ice hockey with his team in Vienna’s Unterliga. He has discovered yoga as a way to balance out not only contact sports but also his everyday life.
