International Peace Institute (IPI)

Long-term collaboration as a data science consultant

From 2014 to 2017, Štefan Emrich supported the International Peace Institute (IPI) in strengthening humanitarian and geopolitical decision-making through data-driven analysis.

As the primary point of contact for data analytics, he provided the IPI’s Vienna office with reliable decision support. His work included identifying trustworthy data sources, preparing and integrating datasets, and transforming complex information into clear, accessible dashboards and reports that became an essential part of the team’s daily work.

A major focus of his work was supporting the IPI’s strategic partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), as well as producing analyses on humanitarian assistance and current geopolitical crises. He also developed a data platform for collaborative research with an automated data processing pipeline, enabling an internationally distributed research team to maintain a shared, reliable dataset.

The quality of his work is also reflected in external publications. His analysis, “Modeling Peace and Security”, was published in Global Observatory, the IPI’s online magazine, which is widely read throughout the international UN community.
